Telecom Industry Leaders Chosen to iBwave’s Corporate Governance

Private Investment Opportunity Triggers Appointment of New Board of Directors.

Montreal, Canada – December 10, 2009 – iBwave, the global in-building design software provider, today announces that following an investment round a group of private investors in late 2008, the company has finally appointed an active Board of Directors to help build on its successes and leverage new strategic global opportunities.

The board members were carefully chosen over the past year based on different criteria, such as their expertise in the telecom industry, their business acumen and their valuable know-how in leading and managing wireless telecom operations and technology evolutions. Each board member also has deep knowledge and holds key connections with wireless operators globally, thus leveraging iBwave’s business and further propelling the company into new markets.

In addition to the external appointment of Ian Sugarboard, Serge Fortin, Nicolas Bélanger and André Tremblay, executive team member Mario Bouchard, President and CEO of iBwave, and Mike Cegelski, current Executive Chairman of iBwave, will continue to actively participate and benefit from the board’s presence.

Nicolas Bélanger, one of the six Board members, also represents the investors group. “We have invested in an organization that is clearly poised for success,” says Nicolas Bélanger, managing partner of Groupe W, a Montreal-based private investment firm. “They have demonstrated their ability to execute and we intend to support iBwave’s management in accelerating its achievements. They have clearly established themselves as the de facto standard for in-building wireless design.”

The terms and conditions of the investment remain confidential although it is clearly stated that current management preserves complete control over on-going operations. iBwave continues to demonstrate profitable growth throughout difficult times in our global economy.

Board Members: 

Mike Cegelski presides as Executive Chairman of iBwave and plays a mentoring role in the company’s strategic and operational orientations since 2006. Prior to this date, Mr. Cegelski served as the President and CEO of the company for two years. Mr. Cegelski has over 25 years of experience in the Telecommunications and Information Technology industries.

Mario Bouchard, President and CEO of iBwave Solutions, has led an inspiring career path in the Telecommunications industry for the past 20 years. Prior to joining iBwave, Mr. Bouchard spent 14 years in key leadership roles to develop and expand in-building initiatives at Bell Canada and TELUS Mobility, two of the leading wireless carriers in Canada. 

Nicolas Bélanger co-founded DTI Software in 1995. Under his guidance as President, DTI has become a world leader in the In-Flight Entertainment industry, serving over 105 international airline customers and was successfully sold to a publicly traded German group in January 2008. Since 2002, Nicolas Belanger also manages Group W Inc, a privately held growth and buyout investment fund, which he co-founded with his business partner.  Nicolas was the recipient of the prestigious recognition Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young in 2007.

Ian Sugarbroad became an independent telecommunications consultant in 2009. Prior to that, Mr. Sugarbroad was named Vice-President at ADC Telecommunications following their acquisition of LGC Wireless Inc. for $169 million in November 2007 where he held the position of President and CEO. Previous to this, Ian Sugarbroad was President and COO of interWAVE Communications Int’l Ltd., a GSM and CDMA equipment manufacturer.  He led interWAVE’s NASDAQ IPO in 2000, raising $65 million, and acquired a number of private companies to broaden the corporation’s product line and market reach.

André Tremblay is a Founder and Managing Partner of Trio Capital Inc, a private investment management company. He has more than 20 years experience in the telecommunications industry, where he has been actively involved in the conception, financing and management of several companies. For almost 10 years, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Microcell Telecommunications, Canada’s 4th largest wireless operator. In 2005, he was appointed by Canada’s Industry Minister as member of the Telecommunications Policy Review.

Serge Fortin is currently president, CEO and co-owner of Exeo systems, a leading supplier of digitized home automation systems, and of LDI Technology, a company that specializes in technology-enhanced LED street and industrial lights. During his career, Mr. Fortin has designed and executed restructuring initiatives of numerous companies such as SR Telecom and Teleglobe where he served as President and CEO. He has held senior management positions in high tech and telecommunications companies around the world.  He also served as president of Yellow Pages and TATA Teleservices. His numerous accomplishments include the launch of cellular service in Quebec in the early 1980s, the establishment of the 911 service in Montreal in 1985, and the creation of the first private telecommunications company in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India in 1996.
